Matt Granger's photographic competition for March this year is negative space. I like to take headshots with a bit of negative space as to not lock the viewer in, and in some ways I have Peter Hurley to thank for that
For the image qualify it must be taken in March so I'm going to try and improve on what I've got below. I took the image a couple of days ago. My eye falls to the bird on the right, even though it is out of focus and then I find I follow the hedge to the left to the in focus bird.
I like the way the image is broken into thirds by way of the hedge and the background colours of the building. Plenty of negative space between the birds and the top of their heads and the top of the image.
I'll see if I can muster the birds into position again.
