Ruddy Shelduck (Rustand) / by Conor Cunningham

A quick trip out to Østensjøvannet provided a sighting of an apparently rarish bird. A ruddy shelduck (Rustand in Norwegian) was sunbaking on a rock a couple of hunded metres away from the main body of water (and the other birds and the daily strollers).

A big thank you to the kind woman who showed it to me. I saw a few photographers out there and tipped off a fellow photographer who had a 500 or 600mm lense. No doubt he'll get a few nice pics.
